Duke Of York Pub - Iddelsleigh Tel 01837 810253
This great old pub, dating back to 16th Century, has a bar with dining area, along with a separate non smoking restaurant. Food is served here everyday from 11:00am till 10:00pm, and is ideal for that pub supper when you return late from a day out. Food is home made from local produce, with portions to fill even the hungriest of guests. This pub regularly features on television and is well renowned by chefs and visitors alike. Top TV Chef and presenter Rick Stein recently featured it in his food series as an example of what an English pub should be like. There is always a good range of real ales, beers and wines available for any occasion. Highly Recommended Local Pub.
The Kings Arms Pub - Winkleigh Tel 01837 83384
This pub is in the centre of Winkleigh village and has a very good reputation. There is one bar with adjacent dinning areas and also a non smoking restaurant with a fascinating sunken well in the floor. As featured in "The Good Pub Guide", run by Chris and Julia, this place has a lot of local history, and its nice to have such a thriving pub just a couple of miles away. Local real ales and ciders are always available along with a good range of beers and wines. Freshly prepared local produce as available on the menu, with a selection of dishes to suit all tastes. Do remember to ask for a small portion if you are not feeling too hungry, they are very happy to oblige. If you feel like a change from the old style Devon pub to a more contemporary style, then the White Hart is just for you. Newly refurbished to a very high standard, this pub provides lovely food with a good range of beers and wines. In a separate room at the rear of the pub is a dedicated entertainment room with Large screen TV for all the best in SKY Sports and a large pool table. whilst out side there is a sheltered garden for those summer days. The Old Court House - Chulmleigh Tel 01769 580045
Paddy and Sam run their historic thatched country Inn which dates back to 1633. Charles I stayed there in 1634 on his first tour of the West Country in a wheeled carriage. The Old Court House has been recently restored by them to provide a small traditional Devon Inn that's well worth visiting. This Inn has one main bar with a non smoking restaurant at the rear. Fresh food is prepared from local produce, with a nice choice on the menu and specials available each day. Don't forget to ask to see the history of the renovation. Fascinating and great value !
The New Inn - Sampford Courtenay - 01837 82247
Now under new management, this pub has a large open fireplace in the main bar, with seating to lounge and relax after a long walk. Bar food and a non smoking restaurant are available from 12:00-2:30 and 6:00-9:00. Good beer and wine is always available, as is a friendly welcome. There is a large beer garden to the rear for those long summer afternoons and nights with an interesting small village to walk round. Great for both summer and winter
George Hotel Restaurant - Hatherleigh Tel 01837 810454
The two bars and the main dining room abound with original oak paneling and the blackened beams, whether choosing from the a la carte menu, savouring a bar snack or enjoying cream tea, guests will experience Devon's finest produce. The a la carte menu is constantly changing and features Cornish seafood, prime local beef and fresh garden vegetables, all prepared and served with the greatest care. On the bar menu traditional choices like steak and ale pie appear next to vegetarian choices, such as spinach, mushroom and cheese roulades.

This thatched Inn has been here since 1600, but has been lovingly restored in the last couple of years by its current owners. Meals are served all day in the main bar and the Snug with the non smoking restaurant. Open from 12:00- 2:30 and 6:00 - 10:00 7 days a week. Very handy for trips to Dartmoor. www.bearslakeinn.com
